Radiata Pine Panel Adhesive

Recommended Solid Wood Panel Production Process

1. Condition the Timber

Lamellas should be conditioned to a consistent moisture level before machining and gluing. Large moisture differences within the same panel may cause uneven shrinkage, internal stress, cupping or joint opening after production.

The appropriate moisture target depends on the wood species, local climate, finished-panel destination and service environment.

2. Prepare Accurate Lamella Edges

Bonding edges should be flat, straight and free from dust, oil, burn marks, crushed fibres and machining defects. Freshly prepared surfaces normally provide more predictable bonding than contaminated or heavily aged surfaces.

Gaps between adjacent lamellas should not be filled simply by increasing glue consumption. Accurate machining and close wood-to-wood contact remain essential.

3. Measure the Main Agent and Hardener

The two components should be weighed according to the specified mass ratio. Estimating the ratio by volume or appearance can create variations in curing, water resistance and final bond strength.

Factories should use calibrated weighing or metering equipment and maintain written mixing procedures for every shift.

4. Mix Until Uniform

The main agent and hardener must be mixed thoroughly until the adhesive is uniform. Unmixed material on the sides or bottom of the container should not be applied to production panels.

Mix only the quantity that can be consumed within the available pot life. Preparing oversized batches may increase waste and introduce partially cured adhesive into the glue spreader.

5. Apply a Controlled Adhesive Layer

Apply the adhesive evenly across the bonding surface. The correct spread rate depends on wood porosity, edge quality, production temperature and line speed.

The objective is to achieve complete surface wetting and a continuous glue line without excessive squeeze-out.

6. Assemble Within the Working Window

Complete lamella assembly before the adhesive surface becomes too dry. Extended delays can reduce wetting and create weak or incomplete joints.

7. Apply Uniform Press Pressure
